Practice Insights

Contemporary professional practice continually raises new questions. New materials, technologies and ways of working are transforming not only how work is created, but also how it acquires meaning, is valued and develops over time. Not every question calls for an immediate answer. Some first require careful inquiry and reflection.

Practice Insights is a series of essays in which Dutch Luxury Design explores fundamental questions emerging from contemporary artistic and design practice. Each essay begins with a recognisable situation from practice and examines it from multiple perspectives, drawing on philosophy, psychology, design thinking and insights from other disciplines.

These essays are not blogs, academic papers or practical guides. They invite readers to look at professional practice from a different perspective and demonstrate how a practical question can evolve into a new practice insight.

Through Practice Insights, Dutch Luxury Design develops its own perspective on the contemporary professional practice of artists and product designers. Not to provide definitive answers, but to examine important questions with care, deepen our understanding of professional practice and create space for new insights that contribute to its ongoing development.
