Practice development for contemporary artists & product designers
Develop your practice. Strengthen the meaning of your work.
Dutch Luxury Design supports contemporary artists and product designers in developing the practice around their work. We work with makers who feel that the quality and potential of their work are not yet fully reflected in how their practice is presented, understood and valued.
The world in which makers develop their practices is changing. Work is more visible than ever, makers can reach their audiences more directly, and new forms of presentation, collaboration and sales are emerging alongside traditional frameworks. This makes the development of the practice around the work increasingly important. A strong practice does not develop by itself. It requires direction, coherence and conscious choices around positioning, presentation, context, communication and professional development. This coherence helps a practice become more visible and recognisable, but above all, it helps create the right connections with collectors, clients, galleries and other relevant professional networks.
This creates a stronger foundation for recognition, new opportunities, sales and the continued professional and economic development of the practice.
De Praktijk Studio
Based on this vision, Dutch Luxury Design developed De Praktijk Studio: a personal development programme for contemporary artists and product designers who want to consciously build the practice around their work.
Practice development requires coherence
A maker’s practice often develops over many years through making, exploring and experimenting. In the process, you may build up a great deal, while the practice around your work develops less consciously. A practice is, after all, more than a collection of individual works. It is also shaped by how the work is selected, presented and positioned, the contexts in which it gains meaning, and the relationships the practice develops. These elements influence one another.
A strong portfolio without clear positioning tells a different story from a practice in which the work, presentation and positioning reinforce one another. Communication, value development and professional relationships are equally connected to the practice itself.
That is why Dutch Luxury Design looks at the coherence within your practice. Not to reinvent everything, but to understand where your practice stands, what defines it and which choices can help move it forward.
From insight to development
The development of a practice begins with understanding what is already there. You bring your work, experience and knowledge of your own practice. Dutch Luxury Design adds analysis, a different perspective and strategic depth. Together, we explore what underpins your practice, what underlying logic emerges and where there is room for further development.
This creates a foundation you can build on independently — with greater clarity about direction, positioning, presentation, communication and professional opportunities.
What a strong practice makes possible
A well-developed practice not only supports the presentation of your work, but also enables more deliberate choices about its further development.
This can lead to:
- clearer positioning
- greater coherence between your work, portfolio and presentation
- stronger connections with relevant contexts and audiences
- greater recognition and appreciation
- stronger relationships with collectors, clients, galleries and other professionals
- more focused opportunities for collaboration, presentation and sales
- stronger foundation for continued professional and economic development.
It is not about achieving as much visibility as possible. It is about developing a practice that communicates more clearly what it stands for, and can therefore find its way more effectively to the people and contexts for which it is relevant.
Our role
Dutch Luxury Design works as a development partner for contemporary artists and product designers. We bring together insight, analysis and strategic development. Our work always starts from the maker’s practice, rather than from predetermined models or marketing solutions. You know your practice. We help you look at it from a different perspective, make connections visible and develop choices that can move it forward.
De Praktijk Studio
