Haggith van Hees

Haggith van Hees

Haggith van Hees-Reesink (1969): 'I want to offer inspiration with art, even if there are no words for something.'

The cradle of artist Haggith van Hees-Reesink stood on creative ground, namely above the shop of the Rietveld family in Utrecht. When she was three, she moved with her parents to Papua New Guinea. The intense colors of the jungle, the tropical flowers and the birds of paradise made an indelible impression on the young artist. When she returned to the Netherlands as a young woman, she took courses in photography, art journaling, etching and mixed media. Haggith is currently studying Art History at the University of Amsterdam.
Her current works (multimedia paintings, both figurative and abstract) are characterized by a zest for life and a connection with social themes such as diversity and inclusiveness. Haggith makes extensive use of deep, bright colors, for which she uses pigment from paint-mill "De Kat op de Zaanse Schans". She prefers to work on canvas and handmade paper.

Haggith's work has been shown in Het Weefhuis in Zaandijk, Galerie Arthur in Amsterdam, De Nationale Kunstdagen, De Brabant Art Fair in Tilburg, the EuropArtFair in Amsterdam and in the Hilton Hotels in Antwerp and Cologne. In 2023 she received the Art Award from Jakunst.

“I feel it when I've made the right choice when I'm painting, when everything comes together. Then I will sing. This somehow seems to seep into my art.”

Haggith is married, has three children and lives in Zaandam. Her studio is at Barndegat 6, Atelier E108, 1505 HN Zaandam.
