Red Sand

During my trip to Bolivia, I was fortunate enough to make a short visit to the ‘El Valle de la Luna’(the Valley of the Moon) in Chile. A breathtaking place, characterized by the abruptness of the landscape break, the scenic beauty of the earthy colors, absolute silence and the scarcity of humidity (no rain in 100 years), flora and fauna.
It is located about 13 km west of San Pedro de Atacama, in the north of Chile in the Cordillera de la Sal, in the Atacama desert. El Valle de la Luna has a variety of rock and sand formations that were created by wind and water erosion. The landscape has a wide variety of colors and textures, sometimes making it look a bit like the surface of the moon.
