Mark van Maanen

" I am Mark van Maanen born in 1967 in Arnhem. Ever since I was a child I have loved to draw, I am self-taught and have attended various workshops over the years. Through persistent searching and experimenting with various materials I have now found my own style. In the process of making, I also use homemade tools in addition to existing ones. I am constantly looking for the contrast between light and dark. Nature is certainly a source of inspiration for me and is strongly expressed in my work. Because of the contrasting effect of black and white and no distraction of color, I wanted to emphasize shapes and structures. This creates a depth effect in a special way, each painting has its own visual sensation and dimension."
