Hans Vanhorck paints illusionistic images of nature. They are fictional models of reality and are about symbols and abstractions.
His landscapes are typical because of the way he deals with traditional painting. They are not romantic paintings like those of Caspar David Friedrich and the romantics, but more studies in a way that fits in with our own time.
