Ellen Reuver

I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember. I can't imagine a life without it.
I received my main education at the 'Academy of Fine Arts' in Belgium. There I learned the classical techniques, but also letting go of them. Letting go is a big theme in my life, hence the way I see:
“Art is releasing my thoughts onto the canvas.”

I also followed training as an 'Artistic helper' at 'De Kleine Tiki' in Breda.
I have taught drawing and painting for 7 years and have made many people happy with one or more of my paintings. For me, painting is my outlet, my way of clearing my head, but most of all gaining energy!

Usually, a painting slowly grows in my head; what I want to tell, depict. Sometimes it can also arise spontaneously, then I have to paint!
In my work, 'Light' is an important element. Light, shadow, contrasts, light/dark, setting the mood.
When I get an assignment, I always talk to the client first. It is better to paint when I know more; for example, about the colour scheme or the atmosphere of the work. I have, among other things, made work for several companies for their interiors. It is then usually related to the company's product.

I work with my own compositions, sometimes I get inspiration from edits of my own photos.
