Christine de Wijse was born in Millingen a/d Rijn in 1950.
Christine:" I have been drawing and painting since my earliest childhood. I am self-taught, I have no special training in art.
After my secondary education, I started working in the art/sewing studio of the Fa Stadelmaier in Nijmegen. The then very well-known studio where very artistic priestly clothing was created. Deliveries were even made to the Vatican.
Later I worked at a technical drawing office where a lot of work was done for the shipping industry. For the past 16 years I worked as a general assistant at a school for the mentally handicapped in Nijmegen.
At that time I made many tapestries and exhibited them.
I now paint a lot of abstract work with many shades of color. In addition to my larger work, I also make small, simple paintings, e.g. a name and date of birth are entered for a newborn. Also suitable for a wedding date or anniversary, etc.
I have participated in various exhibitions throughout the Netherlands.
I was also co-owner of Galerie de Brugpoort in Gorinchem. Now I have my own studio/gallery in our hometown of Gorinchem together with my husband Gerrit Kok for over a year."
