About
Alexander Ivashkevich (b. in 1960) is a fine art photographer living in Tallinn, Estonia.
Being a professional theatre and movie actor who is all the time surrounded by people, he became inspired by them and started to photograph them in order to better understand their inner lives. His profession allows him to wake up and tease the forgotten feelings that often blend into the background. Photo shooting is a continuation of acting and communicating with the audience, it is not just acting work, but rather directing. He states that photography is a bridge between inhalation and exhalation. To catch the right moment means to catch some real sense of human nature.

Artistic Style
The charming combination of an explorer and an artist, who strives to capture human beauty and discovers the uniqueness of every face and body. He loves to say that beauty is not in eternal youth but in the wealth of the inner world of the person. He has been figuring out this mystery for more than fifteen years of fine art photography experience within artistic, psychological, vintage, family portraits, and recently, boudoir series.

During the photo sessions, models always have the opportunity not just to pose and to look attractively, but to explore previously unknown discoveries about their personalities and souls. People who have posed to Alexander Ivashkevich often declare that this is one of the most aesthetic ways of psychotherapy.

His very special style became easily recognizable among art connoisseurs in different countries across the world.

Inspiration
World-known famous painters of the past centuries inspire him very much as their vision of natural human beauty is consonant with his sense of the world today.

The most important thing for me during a photo shoot is to show the inner potential of a model despite her age. The roles and characters are created specially for each person participating in a photo shoot. This inner potential is revealed during a photo session and opens the hidden emotional capacity of a person. Moreover, that is a superior opportunity to look at yourself from the outside.
It is so exciting to create a unique personal story, and the most encouraging reaction to my work is the phrase “I have never felt this way before!".

Unique Technique
All of the photos are framed individually, because, as Alexander says, every single detail of his photo works (medium, type of paper, glass, and frame) is of great importance to him because it helps to get the full emotional experience of the photo.

He also implements the French technique of verre églomisé (application of both a design and gilding onto the rear face of glass), which creates exclusive pieces of fine art.

Exhibitions and Awards
23 personal (in Estonia, Latvia and Russia) and 11 collective exhibitions (in Estonia, Germany, Monaco, UK and Switzerland). He was also invited to take part in the Biennale Fondazione Modigliani in Venice in 2022. Besides the physical exhibitions, he took part in 3D virtual exhibitions in Zurich, London, Berlin and Hong Kong where he received much appreciation.
Many of Alexander’s photo works are owned within private collections in Germany, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, UK, and USA.
