Rineke de Jong graduated as a fashion designer in Amsterdam and worked for a number of years in the fashion industry, but eventually opted for drawing and painting. She drew for years with Humphrey Bennett at De Gooise Academie in Laren and is a member of the drawing club Hamdorff, also in Laren, which has existed for 70 years.
She studied making tempera herself (she made several paintings with it) and oil paint, with a lot of interest in old techniques and recipes. Rineke mainly works from a live model. Her mythological paintings are a combination of abstract and realism in acrylic, the still lifes are realistic. She has won prizes in Holand and abroad and she also teaches.
She has written a book on “How to Make a Ball Jointed Doll”, ISBN 978-94-92575-26-5, which is published in Dutch and English. For sale in the bookshop, at Bol.com, etc. and directly from Rineke, but can also be borrowed from the library.
