Rembrandts Echo

2019 is the Rijksmuseum’s Year of Rembrandt, and the museum has issued an open invitation to submit contributions to a grand summer exhibition.
Rembrandt´s echo is a selection of 18 paintings from different Russian artists who submitted these works to this contest.

We are excited to let you know that the jury has selected the following artworks for the final of the exhibition in Amsterdam Long Live Rembrandt! These artworks you can see from 15 July until 15 September 2019 in the Rijksmuseum! You are very welcome!

 Elena Prudnikova "Towards eternity"
 Alexandra Nedzvetskaya "Visiting Rembrandt"
Vladimir Ezhakov "The Return of Prodigal Son"

From amateurs to professional artists and from young to old, everyone is welcome to send an original artwork. The Rijksmuseum is looking forward to showing hundred works in the exhibition Long Live Rembrandt, which will run from 15 July to 15 September 2019. The most important condition for taking part is that the artist takes Rembrandt as an inspiration. That inspiration could take any form: a modern version of one of his works, or an ‘echo’ of Rembrandt’s art such as his use of colour, his flair for the dramatic or his mastery of light and shade. From paintings to photographs and from sculptures to entire installations, all genres are welcome. The selection procedure started in April 2019. A jury of artists, conservators and educators from the Rijksmuseum has judged the works over several rounds, using criteria such as creativity, technique and originality.
